Canon Autoboy Prisma:

The Canon Prima Shot (which was sold as the Sure Shot Ace in the Americas and as the Autoboy Prisma in Japan) is a 1988 autofocus point & shoot from Canon for 35mm film. Its two unusual features were that it incorporated a brilliant finderin its top panel, allowing the photographer to compose low-angle shots; and that one end of the camera could be detached and used as an infrared remote shutter release. Film transport is motorized, and the camera requires one 6-volt 2CR5lithium battery to operate.

Key features:

  • 35mm f3.5 lens
  • Waist level viewfinder
  • Automatic exposure with a shutter speed of 1/8-1/500s for DX-coded film of ISO 50-1600.
  • Auto flash (Guide number: 8 metres at ISO 100)
  • too close" warning lamp, flash-ready and camera-shake warning
  • wireless shutter remote

What we think:

  • good quality lens
  • waist level prism viewfinder for being sneaky on the street
  • Fast focus
  • Fast film advance system.
